Rocketfish Energy-Saving Home Teater Surge Protector Review
I purchased several of these items for use on TV sets and computers.They work fine on my TV sets.
They only work on a few of my computers, it depends on how much standby current the computers power supply draws.
Most computers have a low power setting (standby, S3) where they go to sleep and consume less power, 5 to 10 watts.
A few of my computers draw low enough power that this unit will work with its power saving mode.
This design would not work with 1/2 of my computers even if they draw as little as 11mA (about 15W) in standby mode.
I tried several units and none of them would work with any computer that used more than 5-7W in standby. The smart power option is not configurable, than is you can not adjust the sensitivity of the power use that activates the smart feature.
The Belkin Conserve Smart AV F7C007q Energy-Saving Power Strip is a much better unit IMHO. It automatically adjusts the threshold current at which it operates so that it will work properly with a wider variety of your electronic devices
