USB To Serial Adapter Review

I've been using the SIIG JU-CB1S12-S3 USB > Serial adapters for over 5 years. They are a tad pricey at just over $30 through Amazon. At one time, I had 7 of these adapters working at the same time. They ALL have worked FLAWLESSLY using Windows XP, SP 2 and 3, and now Windows 7 SP 1. I use them mostly for amateur radio purposes: TNCs, radio CAT control and also a VantagePro weather station.
The ONLY problem I've ever had was when Microsoft updated one of their drivers, Windows reassigned comm port numbers to each of the SIIG devices. Once I figured out what had happened, it was a minor task to go into the control panel and reassign the adapters back to their original comm port numbers.
I would recommend to SIIG that they redesign the DB-9 shell. Right now, it has the normal DB-9 shell but with nuts instead of the thumb screws. Every device that I use the SIIG adapters with also have the nuts on the DB-9, preventing mating of the DB-9s. I end up modifying each of the adapters by cutting off the nuts and then hot gluing the DB-9 shell to the rest of the device. Many times, I even remove the DB-9 shell and plug the adapter directly into the serial device/radio/scanner/etc. This works fine on devices that don't move or get nudged.
