ZyXEL GS108B 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with Metal Housing & Green Energy Saving Technology Review

The ZyXEL G105B switch is a very small and compactly built(5"x3"x1") Gigabit Ethernet switch. To boot, it's made from metal and therefore very durable (reminds me of the old NetGear stuff). The efficient part comes in with power consumption where it sips 3 watts max when all 5 ports are in use. This switch is even smart enough to go into power saving mode if none or only some of the interfaces are active.
While streaming HD contect from Netflix, the switch remained cold to the touch which is an indicator of how much juice it uses. The metal case sort of act as a heat sink as well.
All the ports are auto-sensing so no need to worry about cross-over cables.
I'm using this switch with ZyXEL's PLA407 wall Plug Ethernet extenders which allow me to extend my wired network out to my entertainment center where I can connect my XBOX, BluRay, and HDDVD players into this switch. I get a nice 95 mbps connection with full duplex using this switch (speed reduction due to the nature of the PLA407 devices and not this switch by any means).
