Sabrent USB-RJXT USB Extension Cable Over Cat5e RJ45 Extender adapter - Driverless Review

Works fine - I'm running 150 feet of Cat6e and it connects. BUT it is not USB 2.0 As it happens, I'm OK since what I'm using it for, the devices on the far end are USB 1.1 but I purchased for future proofing, but this was advertised as USB 2.0 when it isn't. Pretty poor. As a USB 1.1 device for $35 delivered over 150 ft - no problems and a deal - I'd still have bought it - just a con to say USB 2.0

RCA RC930 Caller-ID-Compatible Wireless Modem Jack Review

I needed a quick solution for my TiVo and Directv video setup. Both require a phone jack for downloading program data. This was the solution I was looking for. It worked right out of the box with about 5 minutes setup time to find the best connection. There is even some thinking on a major TiVo forum that this product will protect your modem from surges.

RCA RC930 Caller-ID-Compatible Wireless Modem Jack Overview

The RCA Wireless Modem Jack RC930 uses household electrical wiring to provide a simple solution for consumers who want to add a telephone jack to any room in the home or office. It can accommodate modem speeds up to 56K and is compatible with personal and laptop computers, caller ID units, and Internet access devices, in addition to corded and cordless phones, answering machines, fax machines, and digital satellite system receivers.
The system consists of two units: a base and an extension. The base unit transmits the telephone signal on the electrical wiring using the FM band. It plugs into an electrical outlet near an existing telephone jack and connects to an existing telephone jack with a modular phone cord. The extension unit plugs into any electrical outlet and operates as a telephone jack. Once the base unit is plugged in, an unlimited number of extension units may be operated from the original base unit.

Wireless Phone Jack and Extension Unit Review

Seems like a great idea to avoid unsightly (and potentially -if you have an elderly dependent- dangerous) long wires. So I gave it a try.
The unit is very well and solidly built (if a bit bulky), and a snap to set up. Plug the base unit into an electrical plug close to your main phone line, and run a phone cable from the phone line to the base unit. Do the same with the sattelite unit, and connect the phone to the satellite unit - you are done. You will get dial tone.
What will depend a lot on your wiring, I assume, is sound quality. It was horrid in my environment - heavy static, a very loud and variable background noise and muffled voice to top it off. It was unusable in that environment. I don't blame the product - I am sure it depends a lot on how the wires run in a place. Seems worth a try, even though it didn't work for me.

RCA RC920 Wireless Phone Jack Extension Review

I've been using a set of these for over a year, and they are a godsend but not perfect. The good news; I use it to connect my Tivo (Tivo needs to dial in every night to update its program data) and it was the perfect solution for a tough spot, since there's no phone jack anywhere near my television. I have also used it to surf the web with a dial-up connection, with no real problems. Its fine, even through an extension cord! The bad news; I've tried to use for a phone, and that rally didn't cut it. It worked, but its a bad connection. I couldn't tolerate it. So I dispute the earlier comment that it can't be used for data. For me, its only use is for data, not voice! For certain situations, its ideal.

RCA RC920 Wireless Phone Jack Extension Overview

The RCA RC920 wireless phone jack extension is an accessory to the RCA RC926 wireless phone jack, the GE926, and the D916. This compact extension unit converts your existing electrical outlet into a phone jack, without the need for tools or wiring.
If you have already installed a compatible wireless phone jack system in your home or office, simply plug in the RC920 extension into your wall outlet to automatically create another phone jack. A green LED on the side of the unit indicates that it is functioning normally. A reset button lets you change the location of the phone jack or switch phones.
The RC920 features built-in surge suppression and is ideal for placing a phone anywhere an extension phone jack is not readily available. The RC920 is compatible with corded and cordless phones, answering machines, fax machines, and computer modems. It also support call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, conference calling, and speed dialing.
The RC920 is very easy to install. Just plug the unit into your AC wall outlet, attach your phone cord, and begin use. Once a compatible system is installed, you can add as many RC920 units and phones as you need.

Hawking RP-SMA TO RJ-SMA ( HAC7SS ) Review

This is a tough, thin (~3.5 mm) all white extension cable to move your router or PCI card SMA thread ['g' or 'a'] wireless antenna up to 2.13m (6 foot) away from your PC or router. Being white it is very unobtrusive. I use it with the tall chubby DWL 50AT SMA antenna (Hawking etc. make similar) that is a direct replacement for the tiddly SMA one that comes with D-Link, and other, routers and PCI cards. This cable has a standard SMA (one male/one female) fitting, so it easily fits in between the antenna socket and antenna. All fittings are gold plated.
Using a simple signal strength meter I found the strongest nearby signal location to the PC. To do this you need something like the Kensington 'WIFI Finder Plus' that has a 6 LED strength meter. Using this Hawking antenna extension cable I have now put the wireless antenna 4ft above the PC monitor where the signal is very strong at 4 LEDs (dropping to 2 LEDs occasionally) compared to zero to 1 LEDS at the back of the PC. I now have a 54 Mbps (full strength/fastest speed) wireless network all the time with few drop-outs. So if your wireless network isn't running at full speed or frequently drops out, try some high gain antennas, a WIFI strength meter and one or two of these Hawking extension cables. It's a lot cheaper and easier than re-investing in new MIMO or Pre-N hardware.
I bought my Hawking extension lead from an Amazon reseller and it arrived promptly. D-link make a similar SMA extension lead to this and it is available on Amazon, but was a bit more expensive. This one worked very well for me though, is well made, and was very good buy as it was going cheap.

GE 96595 InstaJack for Phones Review

I bought this product because I needed a phone in my family room, which is really an enclosed patio without electrical wiring in the walls. I actually first bought the Radio Shack branded product, which I returned becuase it picked up too much static and stopped working after a couple of hours. After getting the GE product, I looked at the back panel and found out that it, the Radio Shack and the RCA product are all identical except for branding.
Both the Radio Shack and GE products worked perfectly when first hooked up. The Radio Shack product did not come with a manual, so after I returned it and got the GE product I read the manual and learned that they cannot be used with an extension cord. I hooked up the GE product directly to an outlet with high hopes one night.
The next morning, the static made the extension line useless. By the afternoon, I could not get a dial tone off either the base unit or the extension. Worse than that, every other phone in my house, not even attached to the product, lost their dial tone! Unplugging and resetting the units only solved the problems for all phones for a day or less. I experimented, and found that the problem was that I ran my phone line in and out of my computer. Luckily, I have a cable modem and only used my dial up as an emergency backup, so I was able to disconnect the phone line from the computer.
Although the product now works fine, I cannot give it the full 5 stars because (1) the product is fussy and the manual does not provide all fixes, and (2) I doubt the product will work when I switch to DSL and need to connect my phone line to the DSL modem. For that reason, I will actually return the product this week. I would hate to spend [the money]now, only to trash the system when I switch to DSL.

Phonex PX-211D Wireless Web Jack System Review

I bought a Phonex Easy Jack 2 PX-211d Wireless Phone Jack in February, 2007, about one year ago. It's used to provide a phone connection for a Dish satellite HD DVR receiver and was recommended by Dish. It is never used for regular voice communication. The Phonex extension unit is located about two feet from a surge protector which is used to power several items of a home theater system, including a Dish satellite HD DVR receiver, HDTV, DVD, A/V receiver, VCR and a subwoofer. The Phonex extension unit is plugged into the same electrical outlet as the surge protector and is connected to the Dish satellite receiver with a high-quality 4-wire telephone cable.
The product worked very well for seven months. In month eight, Dish charged me $5 for not having a continuous phone hook-up. At this point, the product has failed in four out of the last five months. Dish has charged me $5 each month it has failed to detect a phone hookup. When I test the extension unit for dial tone (by connecting a telephone) the unit does provide an audible dial tone and it does it every time without fail. It seems a bit weak but I can hear it. When I reconnect it to the Dish satellite receiver, the receiver cannot find dial tone about 85% of the time.

The product started to fail after only seven months and is essentially worn out after a year. Phonex tech support admits that electrical interference from devices in the room and particularly from the surge protector may have degraded the product to the point where the dial tone is too weak for the Dish satellite receiver to detect.
The owners manual that came with the unit is fairly comprehensive but does not say anything about locating the unit away from surge protectors. It does warn that neither the base unit nor the extension unit should be plugged directly into a surge protector. On the Phonex website, buried pretty deep in the FAQ section there is a warning about locating the extension unit "near a surge protector or plug strip". When I asked tech support what that meant, they said "4-6 feet away".
With the help of Phonex tech support (very cooperative and helpful) the other possible causes of this problem have been eliminated: faulty phone cord, faulty Dish satellite receiver, bad electrical outlet, worn out surge protector, more distance between the extension unit and surge protector. At this point, the unit is out of warranty by a few weeks and Phonex wants $25 plus S&H to test/repair the unit.
My conclusion is that the product failed due to the cumulative effect of electrical interference from the surge protector and other electrical devices on the same circuit. As such, this product may not be appropriate for a satellite receiver in a home theater setup because a surge protector or plug strip is almost always required in such a multiple box environment.
One last thing. There is another type of wireless jack (RTX Dualjack Wireless Phone Jack) which does not use the electrical wiring in the home. The RTX unit is true wireless and works like a cordless phone, using 2.4 GHz. When reading the customer reviews of the RTX unit, virtually all of the reviews indicated they changed to the RTX unit after Phonex units (or similar units that use the home's electrical wiring) failed. Consider yourself warned.
