Medialink - Wireless N Router - 802.11n - 150 Mbps - 2.4 Ghz - NEW Design w/ Internal Antenna Review

Well, now having the need for a wireless N network I did a bit of research into which router I should buy. After reading so many positive reviews, I kept teetering on whether or not I should try this one out... especially since I hadn't heard of the company and the price point was so low. Eventually I figured "what could it hurt" and ordered it. I immediately got an email from the company thanking me for the order which included the support information if needed. That was a nice touch.
The bottom line is that I'm VERY glad I ordered this. Set up was a breeze if you follow the very simple instructions to the letter. I was up and running in minutes.
My other concern was how well it would sing with my Cisco Wireless N Bridge(The Cisco-Linksys WET610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter)in my living room which is notoriously finicky with non-Cisco product integration. I'm very pleased to report that it immediately started communicating once set up, and has been rock solid for 3 days streaming Hi Def 720p and 1080p video. The signal strength is fantastic and has out performed other routers I have owned in the past. Time will tell how it holds up over the long run. I will update this post if anything goes awry.
Finally as icing on the cake, the router just looks cool. Thats always a happy bonus!
The only negative I could find is that the tech support line isn't 24 hours. Seeing as how I didn't need it, I suppose that really isn't a negative in the truest sense.
I'm a heavy Amazon user who doesn't even write reviews yet felt compelled to for this gem. A Great product, at a great price, and easy set up. Who could ask for more?
*** EDIT 06/14/11 Wow, there are a ton of comments on my review and I thought it would be a good idea to chime in again. Here we are about 8 months after my purchase and the router is still going strong. I have noticed that there was some signal degradation about 3 months in, but I changed the broadcast channel and it cleared up. Whether that was a fix or coincidence I don't know. As far as I can remember it only dropped once and I had to reset it. Not sure what people are expecting, but I thought (and still think) I got fantastic bang for the buck. And to answer some of the people implying I somehow work for the company that makes or markets it: I absolutely do not! I just was pleasantly surprised and wanted to share.

I own a computer that utilizes Windows Vista (64 bit) and was not having success installing wireless adapters from two reputable companies. At this point I was ready to cut open walls and run the ethernet cable to my computer. I mentioned the problem to my computer geek cousin and he told me to purchase a medialink wireless adapter as it supports Windows Vista 32 and 64. So I googled the wireless adapter and found that Amazon carried it. So I went to Amazon.com and there it was in the medialink adapter's product information, compatible with Vista 32 and 64. At $29.99 ( $10.00 cheaper then the previous two adapters), I thought it was worth the risk. I recieved it two days later and proceeded to install the medialink wireless G USB adapter and again no success. At this point I'm ready to punch a hole in the wall out of frustration. I finally decided to contact Mediabridge to convey my dissatisfaction. The phone was picked up after one ring and a customer service person rerouted me to technical support. Technical support picked up after one ring and I'm thinking to myself, this is amazing, no machine telling me to push buttons. After running several test on my computer with technical support, I still was not wireless. The tech support person, who was professional and knowledgable, recommended trying their wireless-N USB adapter. He said Mediabridge will ship it out right away at no cost. I received the wireless-N adapter the following day (again, amazing). I install it and within five minutes I was wireless. The installation was a snap. I'm on the internet several hours a day and I haven't had any problems at all. I forget sometimes that I'm wireless. At the price Mediabridge is charging for their wireless adapters, this is a steal. Kudos to Mediabridge for backing their products and lowering my blood pressure. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a quality wireless adapter at a great price.

4402 Wireless Router - 4 x Network LAN - IEEE 802.11n (draft) - 150Mbps Review

I have the same 4402 setup up as a (WDS)repeater. It works great with my X6 router. I looked up Zoom FAQ and got the detail instruction how to setup the WDS (repeater). It is straight forward instruction. No time I got it up and running. I setup the device at building one with the X6 and building two with the 4402(WDS)(Repeater). That more than 50ft of distance. It works perfectly fine. Reset the device back to factory default setting and give it another try. If that don't work, you might have a faulty unit and return for RMA.
Below is the link to the Zoom FAQ site. LoL. Hope this help...

Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter (Latest Generation) Review

I feel compelled to write a review after seeing the two 1 star reviews before mine. This works flawlessly for me with my ASUS dual band router, no problems at all and couldn't ask for better performance. I'd like to have the little stand that came with the previous model for extended use with a desktop computer, but otherwise I'm perfectly happy.

Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band USB Adapter (Latest Generation) Overview

The Belkin N600 DB Wireless Dual-Band USB adapter allows you to quickly and securely connect a notebook or desktop computer to your network. By giving you connection speeds of up to 300Mbps+ 300Mbps*, this adapter is perfect for streaming HD video or online gaming.*The standard transmission rates-300Mbps (for 2.4GHz), 300Mbps (for 5GHz), 54Mbps, and 11Mbps-are the physical data rates. Actual data throughput will be lower and may depend on the mix of wireless products used.

Edimax BR-6248n,300 Mbps 802.11n Wireless Broadband Router Review

I have two of these routers currently in service.
One (A) connects to the internet and does DHCP.
The other (B) performs wireless bridging from a wired network to (A).
I selected the Edimax BR-6428n router to upgrade my 8-year-old
Belkin 54g routers for several reasons:
- The router is inexpensive and I needed more than one
- It supports N
- I wanted better radio coverage than the old Belkins
- Belkin informed me that they no longer supported wireless bridging;
Edimax does.
Wireless bridging in my case is critically important. Router (A)
and the wired network connected to router (B) are on separate floors and
neither can be relocated. Thus if computers on
the wired network are to obtain internet access, the wired network has
to be wirelessly bridged to (A).
I was easily able to reach Edimax pre-sales and they confirmed
the router could do wireless bridging, suggesting I use wireless
repeater mode.
Once receiving the routers, internet & DHCP setup was quite simple,
using an ethernet cable to connect to the routers
for the first time and using the web interface to configure them.
The first hiccup was that I couldn't figure out how to set up wireless
bridging. The various modes described in the manual didn't quite
describe what I needed.
I spent several hours and gave up, finally emailing their
technical support. Support responded right away the next business day
morning with a document from which I was easily able to get wireless
bridging to work.
The document suggested using "station infrastructure" mode
*and* - the critical part - enable static routing in NAT.
That second part I was unable to guess in all my attempts.
It would be nice if this were in the manual.
In fairness, however, my requirements are not typical.
The second hiccup was in getting wireless-N speeds -- i.e. connecting
at 300Mbps. My relatively modern Thinkpad T510 was connected at 54Mbps --
wireless g. Again I emailed tech suppot, but soon after
independently discovered via web search that you must use WPA2, not WPA,
because the wireless N standard says that use of WPA requires degradation
of service to 54g speeds. I switched to WPA2 and got 150Mbps connect speeds,
not 300Mbps.
Edimax technical support emailed back right away,
confirmed the use of WPA2, but also informed
me that I must set "bandwidth to Auto 20/40MHz".
(According to Edimax support it isn't the default because the
WiFi standard requires it not to be.
It would be nice if the manual were to note this.)
Once I did that, the Thinkpad connected at 300Mbps.
In fairness, the Edimax GUI suggested I use WPA2, but I disregarded
the suggestion, because I thought I might use an old laptop having only WPA.
As for actual speed, the best speed was not reached by using
"station infrastructure" mode, but by using
"wireless repeater" mode as learned in the pre-sales call.
(Tech support sent me the "station infrastructure" mode document because I had
not mentioned that I expected wireless devices to also connect to (B).
There is also a "wireless repeater" document.)
With wireless repeater mode, I copied a 142MB file from the Thinkpad
(physically close to and wirelessly connected to (B
to an HP desktop (connected directly to (B) via an ethernet cable).
Both run Windows 7-64, have core i7 processors, and 8GB RAM.
The best speed I got was 13.5 seconds or 10.5MB/sec = 84Mbps.
This is excellent performance and on par with routers that cost
quite a bit more, from reading reviews of other devices.
The router runs at room temperature, with a small part of
its underside being barely warm. The Belkins dissipated quite a bit more heat.
In summary:
- tech support from Edimax was outstanding
- wireless N speeds are excellent
- the router is excellent value for money
I can highly recommend the Edimax BR-6428n.

Dual Panda Wifi (b/g/n) 150Mbps Wireless-N 2.4GHz USB Adapters (One in White & One in Black) - Windows XP/Vista/7, Ubuntu 11, Mint 11 and Fedora 15 Compatible Review

I purchased this product solely because of its compatibility with Mac OS X, as my internal wireless card is "unpredictable" at best. However, I couldn't figure out which driver to use to install the Panda USB because the Mini CD that ships with the package is not readable by the internal CD/DVD drive found in my MacBookPro -- the drive doesn't have a retractable tray to which the mini disk can be coupled. Thus began my aggravations with the purchase of this adapter. The website for this product at [...] has the drivers for Mac, Linux, and Windows but no instructions to follow for installation. That's helpful. I was glad to download the driver over a 15k link if I could only tell what driver number applies to my wireless device. There is not a mention of the manufacturers model number anywhere on the adapter, on the packaging, or in the brief brochure that is included in the retail box. Once I am able to figure out that this card is RT3070 and download the software, the device remains unusable. The Ralink wireless manager software reports that the card is connected to my network, yet my ISR/access point does not show an association, and consequently an IP address isn't assigned to the device. However, there is no convincing the proprietary wi-fi manager that the adapter isn't actually associated. Lovely. Thinking that I may be able to use it on the Linux OS that dual boots on my laptop, I load up Fedora 11 and download the Linux driver from the RaLink website. Too bad that I cannot figure out how to get the installation going now that I have the driver. I don't know if it is not compatible with my distro or what. And where are the customers supposed to get the supposed one year technical support? The link from the manufacturers website immediately prompts the end user for username and password credentials without providing a link for one to use to create an account. I give up -- its a loss and a total waste of money. Had I known about the shoddy support and lack of documentation I would not have taken a chance on this product, let alone its inability to function in the Mac OS X environment. Caveat Emptor.

Linksys AE1200 Wireless-N USB Adapter Review

Perhaps the other 5 star reviews haven't used this long enough. Trust me, you are better off to just spend the 20-30 extra dollars for a better wireless adapter. Mine will cut out, and not cut back in constantly, I've literally reverted to just using my cell phone as the modem because this thing is so inconsistant and since my cell phone works I know it isn't my router. It will stay connected perfect for about 2 days and on the third it will cut out and i'll have to unplug it and plug it in several times and restart my computer just to get internet again. Sometimes, I have to reinstall the software just to get it to kick back on.
You get what you pay for.

Linksys AE1200 Wireless-N USB Adapter Overview

Upgrade your computer with the freedom and reliability of Wireless-N. Just plug the Adapter into your computer's USB port to wirelessly connect to your network. With transfer rates up to 300 Mbps you'll enjoy a powerful networking experience for surfing, chatting, sharing or playing online. Built with leading 802.11n wireless technology, the Linksys AE1200 offers expanded coverage and reliability. MIMO (multiple input multiple output) antennas boost signal strength so you can stay connected whether at home or at Wi-Fi hotspots on the go.
