Hawking SMA JACK TO APPLE CONNECTOR ( HACSA ) Review

What can you say about a short bit a wire? The connectors are solid and well constructed.
Not something you buy every day but when the need arises, by golly, there better be something to fill the void. This filled it nicely. I love how it snaps into the socket, just as it was intended. I don't know but I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this.
The whole product is well made and holds up well under torture, though it does have its limits. Perhaps ramming the back of my mac into a wall was a bit more than it was designed for. I bent the tip of the connector but it still worked. It just didn't stay in the socket as well as it had before and fell out occasionally so I bought another one. The new one works perfectly and I've avoided being hateful to it, so I've had no trouble at all. The last one just couldn't withstand something it wasn't at all designed for, nor is the mac designed for I might ad. I'm lucky it still works after that little adventure.
So what can you say about a bit of wire? Quite a bit it would seem.
So all thats to say that if that wire still worked after what I put it through, its indeed a good product. If you have a void that is just so long, and so deep, fill it with this. its perfect for the purpose for which it was made.

This replaced a 3 way and 2 way splitter. It helped reduce the snowy signal on some channels. Take note that not all ports on this device have the same level of amplification. So choose your connections carefully.

Cisco-Linksys WEC600N Dual Band Wireless-N Ultra RangePlus Expresscard Review

My late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro recently lost the Airport card to a glass of water. Before forking over $1400 for a hefty tier 4 repair (AppleCare doesn't cover water damage), I decided to feel out my options for add on WiFi cards.
Initially my experience was horrible, after going through both the MX Nubbin and Dlink USB adapters which claimed to work with Mac OS X I decided to give up. Not that either of the aforementioned products are bad, they are just not quite ready for prime-time when it comes to Mac OS X support (especially Snow Leopard support). Both the Dlink and MX Nubbin used the same Ralink based chipset which has immature Snow Leopard support via software (ie, no WPA Enterprise support, which is a killer for me because I need to connect to corporate WiFi).
Before giving up and forking over the $$$ to Apple Repair, I decided to try to find something which could make use of my ExpressCard slot. To be candid, it's one of those slots on my MBP I didn't plan on ever using. Boy, was I wrong!
I bought this adapter, plugged it in, and instantly Airport lit up! Cautiously optimistic, I joined my WPA Enterprise network and had no issue. I was ecstatic. The card only sticks out about 1.2 inches. I then went home and tried to join my WPA2-PSK network, no problems there either. Full native Airport support, I'm not sure what else one could want...no need to deal with 3rd party driver software! Yay! Actually, double yay.
Wrt to the overheating, I've been rsync'ing a large directory for 49 minutes (sustained @ 40mbit/sec) and:
1) I have not experienced disconnects
2) The card is not warm at all. In fact, the "better battery life" GPU is warmer than anything around my ExpressCard slot.
Summary: I cannot speak to the experience of Windows users with this card but it's been near perfect in Snow Leopard for me.

Cisco Valet M10 Wireless BroadBand Router 54Mbps 802.11N M10-RM *Refurbished* Review

This is a great router. I paid much more for it than what is offered for today (only $21 for a refurb!), 5 times to be exact, but I would pay full price again if I had to for this excellent router. It is nearly as plug-and-play as you can get with a router that sets up security and has easy access for you and any guests you want to add. I had heard from others how wonderful it was and am not to be disappointed. Recently I bought a new computer and had some setting it up as I had some issues with my Internet provider, but Cisco's customer service was fast and fixed the minor issue within just a few minutes. Once you set the router up to on your computer you will use a USB "key" that programs any satellite devices to work with the router. Voila! You are connected. You can tell the router how many devices you want it to connect to to reduce the risk of unwanted intrusion. It sets up a unique password for your router system, gives it a name (which you can alter if you want), secure passwords, and secure lines.

Leviton 48210-VA Amplifier Module Review

This Leviton was purchased to replace a failed 4.5 year old 1x1 RCA TV/VCR Distribution Amplifier model VH121. This 1 GHz Leviton is marginally better.
Colour artefacts (noise) was present in dark areas of the video image on my CRT and HDTV's which would only mean the noise filtering of the Leviton is substandard. The edge sharpness of the image was soft and finer detail was also lacking.
I returned the unit and purchased a 4.2 times more expensive 1 GHz Leviton 3x8 Enhanced RF Module 47692-3BY where the results were dramatically superior. Including improvements to broadband internet speed.
Presuming you wish to stay with Leviton, you need to purchase and test to see the differences between the lesser and more expensive Levitons.

Hawking HWDN2 Hi-Gain Wireless-150N USB Network Dish Adapter Review

Just put together a Windows 7 Media PC that's located in a cabinet a few rooms, a couple of walls (including a bathroom), and fifty feet away from the wireless access point. It's sitting next to a lot of A/V equipment -- in a place where my Nintendo WII has trouble getting access to the wireless connection. It has a great signal and I can stream movies off the Internet no problem. I would have given it a 5 star review because it performs exactly how I needed it to, but setup was actually a bit of a pain. The box says "Works with Windows 7" but when I went to install the drivers from the CD it said "Operating System not Supported." It was a bit annoying, but not a huge hurdle. After I hooked in a direct network cable, Windows 7 automatically downloaded the right drivers and everything started working.
